The residents at Orchard House have benefited greatly from regular attendance to the Namaste Care programme. We have found that the Namaste Care program not only benefits dementia sufferers, It can also help residents with anxiety and those who are prone to wandering.

  • Many of our residents who took part in Namaste regularly drank between 30% – 45% of their daily fluids during the namaste session.
  • A decrease in Anxiety and residents have become more engaged and alert during sensory activities.
  • We like to keep a record of what we call “Magic Moments” so we can share them with family and friends.
  • Here are a few examples:
  • One of our residents singing and playing air piano when she rarely was able to speak.
  • One resident was looking through an autumn rummage box and spotted a pheasant feather saying “Pheasant.” When they were asked where they had seen this they replied “Shooting.” This was a resident that struggled to talk, what they said was relevant and very clear.
  • One resident enjoys massaging us back every time we give them a massage.
  • Some residents drink independently during sessions when they are usually assisted.
  • A resident during pet therapy holding a guinea pig, feeding it and chatting away to it.
  • A residents expression after a visit from Hooper the dog from Pets as Therapy. A huge smile, repeatedly saying “good dog” whilst being delighted with having their hands licked.
  • After a facial one resident thanking us and saying “we are so lucky to have people like you doing nice things like this for us.”
